Earth Day Park Clean-Up

Sustainability is one of our core values at RH Carter Architects, and we observe Earth Day as an opportunity to raise awareness and stay involved in efforts to protect the planet.

This year, on the sunny Monday morning of Earth Day, our team took a brisk walk to Tom Riley Park in Toronto to pick up trash. Splitting up into groups, we collected waste from the pathways, wooded areas, and along the banks of Mimico Creek. Cleaning up the natural environments helps protect plants, wildlife, water, and soil from the adverse and potentially dangerous effects of pollution.

After an hour of collecting, we reconvened to weigh our bags—together, we removed 80.3 pounds of garbage from the environment! Some of the most interesting things we found were a fire extinguisher, a car muffler, and a broom. We also met a friendly Garter snake.

After sorting out the recycling, we left the bags in a designated spot for the City of Toronto to dispose of them. It was a great way to get some exercise and give back to the community, and we look forward to making the RH Carter Architects Earth Day Park Clean-Up an annual event!
